About the Naam Japa Counter

A rudraksha japa mala of 108 prayer beads with a tassel
A rudraksha japa mala — 108 beads strung together, used to count rounds of a mantra.

A Naam Japa counter (jaap counter) helps you keep track of how many times you repeat a mantra or the divine name. Traditionally this is done on a mala of 108 beads — one full round is one mala. This online counter does the counting for you: pick a mantra, then tap the circle each time you complete one repetition.

How to use it

Choose your mantra from the list, then tap the large circle once for every repetition. The counter shows your total, the number of completed malas (rounds of 108), and the current bead within the round. When you finish a mala the circle gives a gentle flash (and a small vibration on supported phones). Use Undo to correct a miscount and Reset to start the chosen mantra fresh.

Your count is private

Each mantra keeps its own count, saved in your browser on this device only — nothing is uploaded to any account. Clearing your browser data will reset the counts.
