The dhyana shloka for Ketu - like the palasha flower, chief among the star-grahas, fierce and of fierce nature - with the beej mantra and the Ketu Gayatri.
Detachment, sudden loss, spiritual insight, and skill that arrives without being learnt. He is the moksha-karaka - where Rahu grasps, Ketu lets go, which is why his periods strip things away and deepen understanding.
Tuesdays and Saturdays, and during a Ketu mahadasha or antardasha, before a multicoloured or grey flower with a til-oil lamp. Ganesha worship is usually kept with it.
Sesame, a multicoloured blanket, a flag, a coconut and iron. Feeding dogs, and worship of Ganesha, are what the tradition names with it.
Difficult for accumulation, favourable for renunciation and depth. Whether that reads as loss or relief depends on what the chart is asking of you - the Mahadasha tool shows when his period runs.
The Ketu Stotram - a hymn to Ketu, the south lunar node (shadow planet), recited to pacify Ketu and gain its protective, spiritual grace.
The hymn describes Ketu - radiant like the palasha flower, the headless serpent-planet, fierce yet grace-giving - and bows to him for his favour.
Recited to reduce the obstacles, anxieties and unexpected difficulties caused by Ketu and to gain its protection, detachment and spiritual benefits.
The Ketu Stotram above is given in both Devanagari (Sanskrit) and Roman transliteration so you can read it in whichever script you are comfortable with - switch between the two using the buttons above, share the link, or download a PDF.
A stotram is a longer Sanskrit hymn of praise, not a forty-verse chalisa and not the lamp-song of an aarti. Browse every stotra on the Stotram index. For japa of a short formula use a mantra. The steps of worship around the recitation are in Puja Vidhi.
