Eclipse / Grahan

A list of every solar (Surya Grahan) and lunar (Chandra Grahan) eclipse of the year — each with its type, whether it is visible in India, the grahan start and end times (shown in your local time) and the Sutak Kaal where it is observed. A penumbral (upachhaya) lunar eclipse is generally not kept as a grahan.

Solar & Lunar Eclipses

February 2026

  • Annular Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan) Not visible in India

Tuesday, 17 February 2026 Phalguna Amavasya · Kumbha (Dhanishta)

    Grahan 3:26 PM 7:57 PM

An annular “ring of fire” solar eclipse visible from southern Africa, the southern Indian Ocean, Chile, Argentina and Antarctica. Not visible in India, so no Sutak Kaal is observed.

March 2026

  • Total Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) Visible in India

Tuesday, 3 March 2026 Phalguna Purnima · Simha (Purva Phalguni)

    Grahan 3:20 PM 6:47 PM

A total lunar eclipse (Khagras / Blood Moon) on Phalguna Purnima, the night of Holika Dahan. Seen across Asia; in India it is visible at moonrise — the total phase in the north-east, the partial phase in most cities. Sutak Kaal begins around 6:20 AM and ends with the eclipse at 6:47 PM.

August 2026

  • Total Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan) Not visible in India

Wednesday, 12 August 2026 Shravana Amavasya · Karka (Ashlesha)

    Grahan 9:04 PM 1:30 AM, Aug 13

A total solar eclipse visible from Greenland, Iceland, the Arctic, the north Atlantic and northern Spain, with a partial phase across much of Europe. Not visible in India, so no Sutak Kaal is observed.

  • Partial Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) Not visible in India

Friday, 28 August 2026 Shravana Purnima · Kumbha (Shatabhisha)

    Grahan 8:03 AM 11:22 AM

A partial lunar eclipse (Khandagras) visible from the Americas, Europe, Africa and west Asia. In India it occurs during the day with the Moon below the horizon, so it is not visible and no Sutak Kaal is observed.

Grahan start and end times are shown in your local time. Sutak Kaal applies only where the eclipse is visible; a penumbral (upachhaya) lunar eclipse is generally not kept as a grahan. Times are computed for India and may differ slightly from regional almanacs.
