Ambe Tu Hai Jagdambe Kali - the powerful aarti to Maa Jagdamba (Durga, Kali), the mother of the universe, hymned with all her glories.

Frequently asked questions about Ambe Tu Hai Jagdambe Kali Aarti
Which goddess is this aarti to?
Jagdamba - the Mother of the universe, invoked here in her fierce aspects as Durga and Kali, khappar wali, the one who bears the skull-bowl, riding the lion with her ten arms. It is one of the most sung of all Navratri aartis.
When is it sung?
Through the nine nights of Navratri, at Durga Puja, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and at jagratas, where it is often sung last, late in the night, after the bhajans.
What is the mother and child image in the middle verses?
The aarti says the bond of mother and son is the purest in this world - the son may fail, but the mother never does. That is its whole argument for approaching the Devi: not on merit, but on the claim a child has that cannot be forfeited.
Is an akhand jyot needed?
For the nine days of Navratri many households keep one, a ghee lamp that is not allowed to go out, and the aarti is sung before it morning and evening. It is a sankalpa rather than a requirement - undertake it only if someone can watch the lamp.
What is offered during the aarti?
Red flowers and a red chunri, halwa-puri with black chana on Ashtami, coconut and fruit, with dhoop and the ghee lamp. Full lists are on the Durga puja samagri page.
