About the Profection Year Finder

Annual profections are one of the oldest timing techniques in Western astrology, used by Hellenistic astrologers two thousand years ago and back in wide use today. The idea is elegantly simple: each birthday, your Ascendant profects — moves forward — exactly one sign. At birth (age 0) your 1st house is activated; at age 1 the 2nd house; and so on around the wheel, returning to the 1st house at ages 12, 24, 36, 48…

The whole-sign house reached for your current age becomes the ruling house of the year — its topics (money, partnership, career, friends…) set the year's main theme. The sign in that house is your profected sign, and its traditional ruler becomes the Lord of the Year — the planet that carries the year's story. Astrologers watch that planet's condition in the birth chart and its transits to time the year's key developments.
