Which reckoning does it follow?
Shalivahana Shaka with Amanta months, the year beginning at Yugadi on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada - the same scheme as the Telugu panchangam, with Karnataka\'s own festivals marked.
Which days does a Kannada household look for?
Yugadi with bevu-bella, Gowri-Ganesha Habba, Varamahalakshmi Vrata, Naga Panchami, Mysore Dasara, Deepavali and Kaarthika Deepotsava, and the Ekadashis. The Kannada calendar lists them across the year.
What is the samvatsara named at Yugadi?
The year\'s name in the sixty-year cycle, from Prabhava to Akshaya, read out with the panchanga on Yugadi morning along with the forecast for each rashi.
Why does an Adhika Maasa appear in some years?
To keep the lunar year aligned with the solar one, an extra month is inserted roughly every third year. Festivals move to the Nija month and no new undertaking is begun in the Adhika one.
Can I use it for a muhurat?
