What is Angaraki Chaturthi?
Sankashti falling on a Tuesday, Mangal's day - held to be the most powerful of the year's twelve, and observed in large numbers in Maharashtra. The calendar marks it when it occurs.
How is the fast broken?
After moonrise, so the local moonrise time matters more than the date - check it for your city on the Panchang. The moon is offered arghya, then the puja and the modak prasad.
How does it differ from Vinayaka Chaturthi?
Sankashti is the dark-fortnight Chaturthi kept until moonrise; Vinayaka Chaturthi is the bright-fortnight one, worshipped at midday. Both are Ganesha fasts, a fortnight apart.
What is Sakat Chauth?
The Magha Sankashti, kept by mothers for the wellbeing of their children and observed especially in the north as Sakat or Til Chauth, with a til and gud offering. The katha is read that night.
