Which era and months does it use?
Shalivahana Shaka with Amanta months, the year beginning at Ugadi on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. Each day carries its tithi, nakshatra and any festival.
What is the panchanga sravanam at Ugadi?
The public reading of the new almanac on Ugadi morning - the samvatsara name from the sixty-year Jovian cycle, the year\'s rainfall and harvest prospects, and a forecast for each rashi. It is why the printed panchangam is bought before Ugadi.
Which days does a Telugu household look for?
Ugadi, Sri Rama Navami, Varalakshmi Vratam on a Shravana Friday, Vinayaka Chaviti, Atla Tadde, Bathukamma and Bonalu in Telangana, Karthika Somavaram and the three days of Sankranti. The Telugu calendar lists them by month.
Why does a date differ from a north Indian almanac?
Because of the Amanta and Purnimanta split - the dark fortnight carries a different month name in the north - and occasionally because a tithi spanning two days is assigned differently. The tithi itself is the same.
Does it show Varjyam and Durmuhurtam?
Not in the yearly listing, which carries tithi, nakshatra and festivals. For Varjyam, Durmuhurtam, Rahu Kalam and the day\'s shubh windows, open the daily Panchang and set your city.
