Frequently asked questions about Family Rashi Tree Generator

How accurate is a Rashi taken from the date of birth alone?

Accurate most of the time. The Moon spends roughly two and a quarter days in a sign, so a midday calculation lands correctly for the large majority of births. It only goes wrong when someone was born close to a sign change, which is why you can add a birth time for any member to make their reading exact.

Why is the birth city not needed for each member?

Because the city cannot change a Moon sign. Location shifts the Lagna and the sunrise-based details, but the Moon's longitude at a given instant is the same everywhere on Earth. Only the birth time can move the Moon across a boundary, so that is the one extra detail worth adding.

Do family members usually share a Rashi?

There is no rule that they should, and most families come out well scattered across the twelve signs. Repeats happen by chance, and there is nothing significant about a shared or an unshared sign. The tree is a keepsake and a quick reference for festivals and Rashifal reading, not a compatibility test.

Where is my family data stored?

On your own device, in the browser, until you choose to share the tree or save it to an account. No login is needed to build one. If you clear your browser data the tree goes with it, so save it to an account if you want it to persist across devices.

How do I get a proper reading for one person?

Use the Janma Rashi finder for a full Moon-sign reading with the Nakshatra, pada and lucky associations, or the Kundli Maker for the complete chart with dasha and divisional charts. The tree deliberately shows one medallion per person; it is not meant to carry a full reading.

About the Family Rashi Tree

The Family Rashi Tree puts every family member's Vedic Moon sign - the Rashi - together in one simple chart. Your Rashi is the zodiac sign the Moon occupied at the moment of birth (Lahiri sidereal), and it is the sign used for daily Rashifal, Nakshatra naming and Kundli matching. Add each person with just a name and date of birth and their Rashi appears on a maroon-and-gold medallion with its sign symbol.

In quick mode the Moon sign is approximate: it is calculated for midday, because the city of birth never changes the Moon sign and only the exact birth time can move it across a sign boundary. Add the birth time (and city) for any member to upgrade them to a precise Moon sign. To find one person's Moon sign in full detail, use the Janma Rashi Finder.

Building a tree is free and needs no login - your family stays on your own device until you choose to share it or save it to an account. For a detailed reading of any chart, it is always best to consult a qualified astrologer.
