Rohini Vrat Vrat

What is the Vira Nirvana Samvat?
The Jain era counted from the nirvana of Bhagwan Mahavira in 527 BCE, so a Vira Nirvana year runs some 526 or 527 ahead of the Common Era. Its year turns at Diwali, the day of the nirvana itself.
Which observances does it mark?
Paryushan and Samvatsari, the Das Lakshan of the Digambara tradition, Mahavir Jayanti, the Rohini Vrats, Ashtahnika, Navpad Oli, Akshaya Tritiya and the Ayambil days, alongside the tithi and nakshatra of each day.
What are the Rohini Vrat days?
Every day on which the Moon occupies Rohini nakshatra - kept as a fast, chiefly by women, in honour of Vasupujya Swami. It comes round roughly once a month, so this page lists each occurrence rather than a fixed date.
When is Paryushan?
The Shvetambara Paryushan runs eight days in Bhadrapada, closing on Samvatsari; the Digambara Das Lakshan runs ten days from Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami. Both are listed, since the two traditions keep different lengths and end dates.
Why do some Jain dates differ from a Hindu panchang?
Chiefly because the Jain tradition assigns a tithi by its own rules for fasting days, and the Shvetambara and Digambara almanacs themselves differ. Where your sangh announces a date, that is the one to keep.
