Jupiter in contact with a lunar node - classically conjunct Rahu, and by extension Ketu, with some astrologers also counting a node's aspect. Jupiter carries wisdom, dharma, teachers and belief; the node distorts and amplifies. The friction between the two is what the yoga describes.

Because the same mix that clouds conventional judgement also breaks conventional thinking open. Rahu with Jupiter is frequently found in the charts of original researchers, reformers and people who succeed precisely by refusing the received view. Whether it reads as distortion or originality depends heavily on Jupiter's own condition.

Jupiter being strong: exalted in Cancer, in its own signs Sagittarius or Pisces, placed in a kendra or trikona, or receiving a benefic aspect. What deepens it is the reverse - a debilitated, combust or dusthana-placed Jupiter. This is why two charts with the same conjunction can read so differently, and why the checker shows both sets of factors.

It does not, and the word carries an unfortunate history. Chandal here refers to an outcaste influence on the planet of orthodoxy, describing a chart pattern and nothing about anyone's worth or conduct. Read it as a technical label from another era, and disregard the social freight attached to it.

All aimed at strengthening Jupiter and one's relationship to dharma: worship of Brihaspati and Vishnu, the Guru mantra, Thursday observance, donating yellow items or chana, and genuine respect towards teachers and elders.
