What is Gaja Kesari Yoga?
Gaja Kesari Yoga — literally "the elephant and the lion" — is one of the most auspicious and well-known yogas in Vedic astrology. It forms when Jupiter (Guru) occupies a Kendra from the Moon: that is, Jupiter is in the same sign as the Moon, or in the 4th, 7th or 10th sign from it (a quadrant / Kendra).
What it bestows
The yoga is said to give the majesty of an elephant with the courage of a lion — sharp intelligence, fame, wealth, virtue, leadership and lasting respect. Such people are remembered long after their time.
How strong is it?
Not every Gaja Kesari Yoga gives the same result. The yoga is strongest when Jupiter is exalted or in its own sign, not combust, and well placed from the Lagna, and when the Moon is bright (away from the Sun). It is softened when Jupiter is debilitated, combust, or in a dusthana, or the Moon is dim.
