What is a Tithi Vriddhi?
An extended or Adhika tithi - a lunar day so long that it spans two sunrises and therefore repeats on the calendar. It occurs when the Moon moves slowly relative to the Sun, which is the reverse of the Kshaya condition.
Why do tithis vary in length?
Because a tithi is defined by the Moon gaining twelve degrees on the Sun, and the Moon's speed varies with its elliptical orbit. When it is near apogee it moves slowly and the tithi stretches; near perigee it moves quickly and the tithi shortens.
What does birth in one mean?

Does it affect festival dates?
