Gandmool Nakshatra Dosha

Enter birth date, time, and place. Gandmool Dosha is read from your Janma Nakshatra (the Moon's birth star, sidereal/Lahiri) — it applies only if the Moon is in Ashwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Mula or Revati.

Use the exact birth time — the Moon changes nakshatra roughly once a day, so the pada depends on it.

What is Gandmool Nakshatra Dosha?

Gandmool (Gand Mool) Dosha applies when the Moon at birth falls in one of the six gandanta nakshatrasAshwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Mula and Revati. These are ruled by Ketu (Ashwini, Magha, Mula) and Mercury (Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, Revati), and they sit at the sensitive "knots" (gand) where a water sign meets a fire sign — Pisces–Aries, Cancer–Leo and Scorpio–Sagittarius.

The strength of the dosha depends on the pada (quarter): the pada that touches the exact sign junction is considered the most sensitive, while the others are milder. Tradition associates these births with a tender early period for the child or family — but it is regarded as fully remediable.

The classical remedy is the Gandmool Shanti Puja, performed when the Moon returns to the same nakshatra — usually around the 27th day after birth (this calculator computes that date for you), or any later recurrence if it is done in adulthood. Many highly successful and spiritual people are born in these nakshatras, so treat the result as an educational note rather than a worry.
