What does the pada add to my birth star?

Each Nakshatra spans 13 degrees 20 minutes and is quartered into four padas of 3 degrees 20 minutes. The pada tells you which Navamsa sign the Moon falls into, which is why two people with the same birth star can read quite differently. How much does birth time affect which Nakshatra I get?

Enough to matter. The Moon crosses a full Nakshatra in roughly a day and a pada in about six hours, so an hour of error can move the pada and a birth near a boundary can land in a different star altogether. If your result sits in the first or last degree of a Nakshatra, treat it as provisional until the time is confirmed.

What are Gana, Nadi and Yoni used for?

They are the marriage-matching attributes drawn from your star. Gana groups people as Deva, Manushya or Rakshasa by temperament, Nadi relates to constitution, and Yoni to instinctive compatibility. Is a Gandmool star a bad birth star?

Why does my Nakshatra decide when my dasha starts?

Because Vimshottari is anchored to the Moon. Each Nakshatra is assigned a planetary lord, and the portion of the star the Moon had already crossed at birth decides how much of that planet's period was already spent. That is why your very first Mahadasha is usually a part-period rather than a whole one.

How is this different from the Bhamsha (D27) chart?

What is Janma Nakshatra?

My Nakshatra is Ashlesha and almost everything written about it is unflattering, which is hard to read about yourself. Is a Nakshatra really a character verdict, and how much does the pada change the picture? Mine is the third pada.
