What are the Namkaran syllables and do we have to use them?
Each Nakshatra is divided into four padas, and every pada carries a traditional syllable used as the first sound of the baby's name at the Namkaran sanskar. The idea is to tune the name to the Moon's position at birth. Many families use it for the formal or ceremonial name and choose the everyday name freely - that is an accepted practice, not a compromise.
My baby was born in a Gandmool Nakshatra. Should we be worried?
Try not to be. Gandmool simply means the Moon was in one of six junction stars ruled by Mercury or Ketu (Ashwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Moola, Revati) - that is around a fifth of all births. The tradition prescribes a simple Shanti puja, usually on the 27th day when the Moon returns to the same star, and treats the matter as closed. It is a ritual observance, not a diagnosis.
What does Paya at birth mean?
Paya is a traditional indicator taken from the Moon's position relative to the birth Rashi, and it comes out as gold, silver, copper or iron. Each is given a general flavour regarding comfort and effort in early life. It is a piece of folk-astrological custom that families enjoy knowing, and it is best held lightly rather than read as a forecast.
How accurate does the hospital birth time need to be?
Very. The Lagna changes sign roughly every two hours, and the Gandanta checks depend on the Moon being within a few degrees of a sign junction - so a few minutes genuinely matter here. Use the time written on the hospital record rather than a remembered one, and pick the city from the dropdown so the timezone and coordinates are right.
How is this different from the ordinary Kundli Maker?
The chart mathematics is the same. This version reads what parents of an infant actually need: the naming syllables, Paya, the newborn dosha checks with their Shanti dates, and a planner for the childhood sanskars. What is Balarishta, and what does a flag mean?
Balarishta is a classical set of combinations traditionally read as delicacy in infancy. It should be handled with real care, for two reasons: the classics list a long series of cancellations (Balarishta Bhanga) that neutralise most cases, and a chart is never a medical statement. Treat any flag as a prompt for the customary Shanti observance and ordinary paediatric care, nothing more.
