What does Argala mean in a Kundli?
Intervention. Planets occupying the 2nd, 4th and 11th from a house can feed that house (Dhana, Sukha and Labha Argala). The 5th is a secondary Argala of intelligence and poorvapunya. This page counts occupancy in whole-sign houses, Lahiri, not rashi-drishti Argala.
How is Virodhargala counted?
The 12th can obstruct the 2nd, the 10th the 4th, the 3rd the 11th, and the 9th the 5th. Each planet in the sign counts as one, including Rahu and Ketu separately. If Argala has more occupants than Virodha, Argala still prevails; equal counts are contested; more on the obstructing side blocks the channel.
Does obstructed Argala mean the house is ruined?
No. It means that channel of intervention is contested or blocked, not that the house itself fails. Dignity, dasha, and the house lord still matter. Two or more natural malefics in the 3rd are read as a special papargala of effort, not as a ruined house.
