What are the Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas?
The Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas — the "five great-person yogas" — are among the most celebrated combinations in Vedic astrology. Each forms when one of the five planets Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn sits in its own sign or exaltation sign AND occupies a Kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house) from the Lagna.
The five yogas
- Ruchaka Yoga (Mars) — the brave commander: courage, leadership and victory.
- Bhadra Yoga (Mercury) — the learned scholar: intellect, eloquence and skill.
- Hamsa Yoga (Jupiter) — the noble sage: wisdom, virtue and respect.
- Malavya Yoga (Venus) — the connoisseur: beauty, charm, luxury and comforts.
- Sasa / Shasha Yoga (Saturn) — the authority: discipline, power and command over masses.
What you get
This checker computes your sidereal (Lahiri) chart, then checks each of the five planets for its dignity (own sign or exaltation) and whether it sits in a Kendra. For every yoga that forms you get its archetype, the qualities it bestows, the fields it favours and what to keep in mind — plus a clear status grid for all five planets and a downloadable PDF. These are rare yogas, so it is completely normal for a chart to have none, one, or a few.
