Yogas & cautions today

  • Ganda MoolThe Moon is in a Ganda Mool (gandanta) nakshatra — Ashwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Mula or Revati. This matters mainly for newborns: a baby born now is traditionally given a Mool Shanti once the nakshatra passes. For everyday work it is only a mild caution.

Today's Panchang Tools

What is the Panchang?

The Panchang, meaning "five limbs," measures daily time in Vedic astrology. It computes five elements from the sidereal Sun and Moon at your local sunrise, explaining why timings change with city selection.

  • Tithi: The lunar day, based on the Moon-Sun separation (30 per lunar month).
  • Nakshatra: The lunar mansion the Moon occupies (27 total).
  • Yoga: A value derived from combined Sun and Moon longitudes (27 yogas).
  • Karana: Half a Tithi.
  • Vara: The weekday.

Each element shows an "upto" time, indicating when it transitions to the next. For example, "Shukla Dwitiya upto 14:32" means the second day of the waxing Moon ends at 2:32 PM.

The Panchang also flags special daily signals like Ravi Pushya, Guru Pushya Yoga, and Amrit Siddhi Yoga (auspicious), along with Ganda Mool and Panchaka (cautions). These are based on the day's weekday, nakshatra, and moon sign.

We also include Abhijit Muhurat, an auspicious midday window. Lunar month names are provided in Amanta and Purnimanta systems, and the year in Shaka, Vikram, and Gujarati Samvats. For full timing bands, see the Shubha Muhurat and Ashubha Muhurat (Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, Gulika Kalam) windows above, and the day & night Choghadiya.

For important tasks, check the Tithi, Nakshatra, Choghadiya, or Abhijit. For personal readings, see the Daily Rashifal or find your birth details with the Kundli Maker.
