Pushkara Navamsa - Bhaga Checker
Frequently asked questions about Pushkara Navamsa
What is a Pushkara Navamsa?
One of 24 auspicious 3-degree-20-minute padas - two in every rasi. Fire signs use the 7th and 9th navamsa, earth the 3rd and 5th, air the 6th and 8th, water the 1st and 3rd. In D9 those padas fall in Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Taurus or Pisces - never in a Sun, Mars or Saturn sign. This page checks Lagna and the nine grahas.
What is Pushkara Bhaga, and why are there two degree lists?
Bhaga is the finer degree inside a Pushkara Navamsa. The headline list is CS Patel / elemental: 21 in fire, 14 in earth, 24 in air, 7 in water. Each of those sits inside a Pushkara pada. Jataka Parijata (Adhyaya 1, Shloka 58) names a different degree per sign and can fall outside a Pushkara Navamsa. Both are shown. Occupying a listed degree means that whole degree, for example 21° 00' to 21° 59'.
Does Pushkara cancel a debilitated or weak planet?
No. It is a nourishing pada, not a cancellation. A planet can be neecha and still sit in Pushkara Navamsa. Read dignity, house, aspects and dasha as usual. Neecha cancellation is the Neechabhanga Raja Yoga page.
How is this different from vargottama?
Vargottama is the same rasi in D1 and D9. Only three Pushkara Navamsas can also be vargottama: Taurus 5th, Cancer 1st, Sagittarius 9th. Use the Vargottama Planet Finder for the D1 = D9 test. This page asks whether the pada itself is one of the 24 Pushkara Navamsas.
Is this Tripushkara Yoga or Pushkala Yoga?
No. Tripushkara and Dwipushkara are daily Panchang yogas from weekday, tithi and nakshatra, shown on the Panchang page. Pushkala Yoga is a different natal yoga. Pushkara Navamsa is a pada in the birth chart.
Why does the birth time matter, and do Rahu and Ketu count?
Each navamsa is only 3 degrees 20 minutes, so a few minutes can move a planet or the Lagna into the next pada. Lagna in Pushkara Navamsa is often used in muhurta as well as natal work. Rahu and Ketu can sit in Pushkara Navamsa. For how each pada maps, see the Navamsa (D9) guide.
What is Pushkara Navamsa?
Pushkara means nourishing. Each rasi of 30 degrees is cut into nine navamsas of 3 degrees 20 minutes. Two of those nine are Pushkara Navamsas - 24 in the whole zodiac. They fall in the signs of Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and the Moon in D9, never in the signs of the Sun, Mars or Saturn. Fire signs use the 7th and 9th pada (Libra and Sagittarius navamsas), earth the 3rd and 5th (Pisces and Taurus), air the 6th and 8th (Pisces and Taurus), water the 1st and 3rd (Cancer and Virgo). A planet or Lagna in one of those padas is said to give results that feed rather than merely occur.
Pushkara Bhaga is the finer degree inside that pada. This page headlines the CS Patel / elemental list: 21 in fire, 14 in earth, 24 in air, 7 in water - each sits inside a Pushkara Navamsa. Jataka Parijata (Adhyaya 1, Shloka 58) lists a different degree per sign and is shown beside it. It is not vargottama (same rasi in D1 and D9), not Vimsopaka Bala, not Pushkala Yoga, and not Tripushkara Yoga on the daily Panchang. Kundli Maker draws the D9 chart. Pushkara does not cancel neecha on its own.
Enter the exact birth time and pick the city from the dropdown. A few minutes can move a planet into the next navamsa and drop Pushkara. Results are free to share or save as a PDF. Editorial pages are reviewed by Astro Arpita Nath.
