What is an Akshavedamsha chart?
The forty-fifth divisional chart (D45). Each rasi is split into forty-five parts of 0 degrees 40 minutes. Movable signs count from Mesha (Aries), fixed from Simha (Leo), dual from Dhanu (Sagittarius). The twelve houses are read from the Akshavedamsha of the rising sign as house 1. Classical practice uses it for all general indications; later readers also use it for character and conduct, and for the father's line: the 9th for father, dharma and fortune.
Does a weak D45 mean I have bad character, or that my father will suffer?
No. A planet that looks strong in the birth chart but falls to a weak Akshavedamsha tends to deliver less for character and paternal dharma than it appears to; the reverse also holds. That is a modifier, not a verdict on character and not a lifespan of the father. Dasha, the natal 9th lord and ordinary conduct still matter. Treat a difficult D45 as a reason to look more closely, not as a curse.
How is this different from Dwadasamsa, Khavedamsha or Paternal Inheritance?
Parents - Dwadasamsa (D12) is both parents. Luck from Mother's Side - Khavedamsha (D40) is auspicious and inauspicious effects, and the mother's line.
