How the score is worked out

Your Sun sign is calculated on the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology. The match then looks at two things:

• Sign aspect — how far apart the two signs sit on the zodiac wheel. Signs of the same element (a trine) are the most harmonious; neighbouring signs and squares take more work; opposite signs often attract.
• Elements — Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Fire and Air encourage each other, Earth and Water nourish each other, while other mixes are more contrasting.

Is Sun-sign matching the whole story?

No — it is a fun, big-picture guide. Real relationships depend on far more than Sun signs. A full comparison would also weigh the Moon (emotions), Venus (love and affection), Mars (passion), and the Rising signs of both charts. For an in-depth synastry reading, consult a qualified astrologer.
