What is Panch Pakshi Shastra?
Panch Pakshi (Pancha Pakshi Shastra, பஞ்ச பட்சி சாஸ்திரம்) is an ancient Tamil Siddha system of predictive astrology. Pancha means five and Pakshi means bird — five birds (Vulture, Owl, Crow, Cock and Peacock) personify the five elements and govern the flow of time.
Every person is linked to one birth bird (Nakshatra Pakshi), found from the Moon's nakshatra and the paksha (waxing Shukla or waning Krishna fortnight) at birth. Through each day and night — divided into five yamas of about 2 hours 24 minutes — your bird cycles through five activities: Ruling, Eating, Walking, Sleeping and Dying. Ruling and Eating are the strongest, most auspicious windows; Sleeping and Dying are weak and best avoided for important work.
This calculator finds your bird and gives its nature, its friend and enemy birds, your ruling (good) and death (avoid) days for both pakshas, and a quick outlook for today. Enter your exact birth time and pick the city from the dropdown so your nakshatra and paksha are accurate. It is an educational tool — for the precise yama and sub-bird timings on a specific day, consult a full Pancha Pakshi panchangam or a traditional astrologer.
