Vishkanya Yoga Finder - Yes or No, From Your Birth Chart

Three things falling together at birth: a Sunday, Tuesday or Saturday; a Bhadra tithi, meaning the Dwitiya (2nd), Saptami (7th) or Dwadashi (12th) of either paksha; and the Moon in Krittika, Ashlesha or Shatabhisha. All three are needed for the general rule - one or two of them on their own form nothing. There is also a planetary version, chiefly Saturn in the Lagna with the Sun in the 5th and Mars in the 9th.

Because the texts themselves differ. The general rule accepts any of the three weekdays with any of the three tithis and any of the three nakshatras. Parashara pairs them instead, allowing only three exact triads: Sunday with Dwitiya and Ashlesha, Saturday with Saptami and Krittika, or Tuesday with Dwadashi and Shatabhisha. Most charts that satisfy the general rule fail his, so one astrologer reading Parashara says no while another reading the digests says yes. Parashara gives two cancellations: the yoga is undone if the lord of the 7th house occupies the 7th house, or if a benefic occupies the 7th house - each checked from the Lagna and again from the Moon. That is four chances to cancel, and roughly two in five charts that form the yoga also break it. A check that stops at the weekday and nakshatra will call those charts Vishkanya when the tradition it quotes does not.

No. The name comes from legend - stories of girls raised on poison and sent against an enemy king - not from anything the astrology claims. A yes means a birth moment fell on a particular weekday, tithi and nakshatra. It says nothing about your character or conduct, and there is no classical basis for treating it as a prediction about a spouse's life or health. The combination appears in a little over one per cent of charts, and Parashara's stricter version in a small fraction of that.

It should not. Classical practice reads marriage from the whole chart - the 7th house and its lord, Venus, Jupiter, the Moon and the running dasha - never from one combination in isolation, and the same texts that record this yoga also record its cancellations and remedies. Using it to call off a match, or to hold a woman responsible for a family's misfortune, has no support in the sources. If it has come up in a marriage discussion, sit with a qualified astrologer over the full chart, and consider a proper compatibility reading through Kundli Milan rather than a single label.

They test unrelated things. Manglik Dosha is purely a matter of where Mars sits, measured from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus, and it applies to men and women alike. Vishkanya rests on the panchang at birth - weekday, tithi and nakshatra - and is classically read in a girl's chart. A chart can carry one, both or neither, and neither is read on its own.
