What is a yantra?
A sacred geometric diagram used as a focus for worship, with each of the nine planets and many deities having their own. The Shree Yantra, dedicated to Lakshmi, is the best known. In practice a yantra works like a fixed point for attention and devotion rather than as an object with power of its own.
Why is the 9th lord chosen as the primary yantra?
Because the 9th house is Bhagya - fortune, grace and dharma - and the tradition holds that strengthening its lord nourishes luck at the source. That is why the fortune yantra is the first recommendation here, with the ascendant lord for personal strength and a balancing yantra for your weakest planet alongside it.
Does a yantra need to be energised?
Traditionally yes - through prana pratishtha, a short consecration with the beej mantra, usually done by a priest or by the worshipper following the prescribed method. An unenergised plate is regarded as a diagram rather than a working yantra. The daily practice afterwards matters at least as much as the ceremony.
Where should it be kept?
On a clean altar or puja space, usually facing east or north, at or above waist height, and not on the floor or in a bedroom or bathroom. Keep it dust-free and offer at least a brief daily acknowledgement. A yantra put away in a drawer is, in the tradition's own terms, doing nothing.
Can I use a yantra alongside other remedies?
Yes, and that is the usual practice. Mantra, daan, vrat, gemstone and yantra are five families of remedy that are routinely combined for the same planet. This calculator picks a lucky yantra from the birth chart: the primary suggestion is the yantra of the 9th-house lord (Bhagya - fortune and grace), then the ascendant lord for overall support, a balancing yantra for a weak planet, and the universal Shree Yantra. For each you get the presiding deity, a beej mantra, a preferred weekday and metal, and a short note on how it is traditionally energised.
A yantra is a ritual support, not a financial product and not a medical device. Drawing or buying one does not guarantee wealth, a visa, a child or a court result. If a page suggests a mantra, chant it as devotion if you wish; it is not a substitute for a priest's prana-pratishtha of a metal plate, nor for a doctor or lawyer. Strong planetary remedies still need the rest of the Kundli - a weak 9th lord that is also a maraka is not automatically "boosted" by its yantra.
