Vastu Dosha Calculator - House Defects
Frequently asked questions about Vastu Dosha
Is this a Kundli reading of my house?
No. This page is a floor-plan checker. You name the facing of the main door and which octant holds the kitchen, bedroom, toilet and other rooms. It does not use your birth time. For land and home in the birth chart use Property Ownership and the Home and Property - Chaturthamsha (D4) Chart.
Why is a North-East toilet or kitchen treated as a heavy defect?
North-East (Ishanya) is the water and shrine corner in common home Vastu. A toilet puts waste there; a kitchen puts fire there. Both clash with a zone that is kept light, open and clean. The page flags them as high so you can plan a change. It does not mean the house cannot be lived in.
Can I live with one Vastu dosha?
Yes. Almost every city flat has at least one compromise: a stacked toilet, a kitchen the builder fixed, or a South-facing door. One defect is a tension in the plan, not a verdict on the household. Shift what you can; keep the rest clean, closed and well ventilated. A Vastu architect is the right person for a site-specific remedy.
How is this different from Property Ownership?
Property Ownership reads Griha Yoga in the natal chart: whether the Kundli supports buying or holding land. This calculator never opens a chart. It only checks whether the rooms you typed sit in the eight directions Vastu prefers. Use both if you want timing from the sky and layout from the floor.
Should I wait for a Griha Pravesh muhurat before I fix a dosha?
Muhurat and Vastu answer different questions. Griha Pravesh Muhurat picks a date to enter. This page names clashes in the plan. You can live in a house and still move a shrine or a stove later. Buying the plot is Property Purchase Muhurat; breaking ground is Bhumi Pujan Muhurat.
About Vastu Dosha
Vastu Shastra reads a house as a body of directions. The Vastu Purusha lies on the plot; the eight directions (Ashta-disha) each have a deity and a use. North-East (Ishanya) is kept light: water, shrine, open space. South-East (Agneya) is fire: the kitchen. South-West (Nairitya) is weight: the master bedroom and stores. North-West (Vayavya) is air: guests, toilets, movement. A Vastu dosha is a room sitting in a corner that traditionally belongs to another function.
This calculator is a zone checker, not a scaled 9x9 mandala survey and not a birth chart. You name the facing of the main door and where the kitchen, bedroom, toilet and other rooms sit. It flags well-known clashes such as a North-East toilet or kitchen, a South-West shrine or door, a missing North-East, and a few room-to-room mixes. One defect does not make a house unliveable. Layouts vary by city plots and apartment stacks; treat the list as a map of tensions, not a demolition order. To place rooms in a new layout, use the Vastu Room Direction Calculator. For a 0-100 house mark, use the Vastu Score Calculator.
For land and home in the Kundli, use Property Ownership and the Home and Property - Chaturthamsha (D4) Chart. For a date to enter the house, see Griha Pravesh Muhurat. Buying the plot is Property Purchase Muhurat. Breaking ground is Bhumi Pujan Muhurat. A Vastu architect or structural engineer is the right next step for a real building; this page is educational.
