What is a Chaturthamsha chart?
The fourth divisional chart (D4, Turyamsa). Each rasi is split into four parts of 7 degrees 30 minutes. The first amsa stays in the same rasi, the second moves to the 4th, the third to the 7th, the fourth to the 10th. The twelve houses are read from the Chaturthamsha of the rising sign as house 1. Classical practice uses it for fortune, home and fixed assets: the 4th for land, house, vehicles and sukha.
Does a weak D4 mean I will never own a house?
No. A planet that looks strong in the birth chart but falls to a weak Chaturthamsha tends to deliver less for home and fortune than it appears to; the reverse also holds. That is a modifier, not a purchase verdict and not legal advice. Dasha, the natal 4th lord and ordinary means still matter. Treat a difficult D4 as a reason to look more closely, not as a curse on property.

How is this different from Kundli Maker or Dwadasamsa?
Same D4 mathematics and the same D4 lagna as house 1. Kundli Maker is the full natal file - D1, every varga, dasha and strength tables. This page is only the Chaturthamsha. Parents - Dwadasamsa (D12) is parents. Luxury and Vehicles - Shodashamsha (D16) is vehicles and comforts. Education - Chaturvimsamsa (D24) is education, a different varga despite the similar name. Vimsopaka Bala includes D4 as one weighted varga in a 20-point score.
Is the 4th from D4 my house?
It is the classical house of home, land, vehicles and sukha in this chart, not a floor plan and not a purchase date. Read it with Moon and Mars, and with the natal 4th lord placed in D4. Same sign in D1 and D4 means the graha is in the first amsa (0-7.5 degrees) - expected, not vargottama. That test is D1 = D9 on the Vargottama Planet Finder.
Why does the birth time still matter?
Each Chaturthamsha is 7 degrees 30 minutes of the rasi chart, so Lagna still moves from one D4 sign into the next in a few minutes of clock time at those marks. Pick the city from the dropdown and use the recorded time. If the time is rounded, treat the chart as provisional.
