What is a Shodashamsha chart?
The sixteenth divisional chart (D16, Kalamsa). Each rasi is split into sixteen parts of 1 degree 52 minutes 30 seconds. Movable signs count from Mesha (Aries), fixed from Simha (Leo), dual from Dhanu (Sagittarius). The twelve houses are read from the Shodashamsha of the rising sign as house 1. Classical practice uses it for vehicles, conveyances (vahana) and comforts: the 4th for cars, conveyances and sukha.
Does a weak D16 mean I will never own a car?
No. A planet that looks strong in the birth chart but falls to a weak Shodashamsha tends to deliver less for comforts and vehicles than it appears to; the reverse also holds. That is a modifier, not a purchase verdict and not financial advice. Dasha, the natal 4th lord and ordinary means still matter. Treat a difficult D16 as a reason to look more closely, not as a curse on conveyances.
