What is a Vimshamsha chart?
The twentieth divisional chart (D20). Each rasi is split into twenty parts of 1 degree 30 minutes. Movable signs count from Mesha (Aries), fixed from Dhanu (Sagittarius), dual from Simha (Leo). The twelve houses are read from the Vimshamsha of the rising sign as house 1. Classical practice uses it for upasana, worship and spiritual practice: the 9th for dharma, guru and pilgrimage, the 5th for bhakti and mantra.
Does a weak D20 mean I am not spiritual?
No. A planet that looks strong in the birth chart but falls to a weak Vimshamsha tends to deliver less for worship than it appears to; the reverse also holds. That is a modifier, not a piety score and not a priesthood verdict. Dasha, the natal 9th lord and your own practice still matter. Treat a difficult D20 as a reason to look more closely, not as a claim that you lack faith.
How is this different from Istha Devta, Chaturvimsamsa or Purpose of Life?
Istha Devta is the Jaimini personal deity from the 12th from Karakamsha in D9. Education - Chaturvimsamsa (D24) is education and vidya, a different varga despite the similar name. Purpose of Life reads Atmakaraka and Swamsha. This page draws the D20 chart itself.
How is this different from Kundli Maker, Navamsha or Vimsopaka?
Same D20 mathematics and the same D20 lagna as house 1. Kundli Maker is the full natal file - D1, every varga, dasha and strength tables. This page is only the Vimshamsha. Marriage - Navamsha (D9) is dharma and marriage. Vimsopaka Bala includes D20 as one weighted varga of 0.5 in Shodasavarga.
Is the 9th from D20 my priesthood or guru?
It is the classical house of dharma, guru, pilgrimage and upasana in this chart, not an ordination and not a named teacher. Read it with Jupiter and the Sun, and with the natal 9th lord placed in D20. Same sign in D1 and D20 is an echo, not vargottama - that test is D1 = D9 on the Vargottama Planet Finder.
Why does the birth time matter so much?
Each Vimshamsha is only 1 degree 30 minutes of the rasi chart, so a few minutes of clock time can move Lagna or a graha into the next D20 sign and redraw every house. Pick the city from the dropdown and use the recorded time. If the time is rounded, treat the chart as provisional.
