Mandooka Dasha Calculator - Jaimini Frog Leaps

Mandooka Dasha

Your chart is saved automatically.

Enter birth date, time, and place. Mandooka Dasha is the Jaimini leaping-frog rashi dasha for sudden life shifts - the twelve signs take turns by jumping to the 4th, not by walking next door (Lahiri sidereal).

Odd Lagna starts the frog at Lagna; even Lagna starts it at the 7th - the exact birth time matters.

Frequently asked questions about Mandooka Dasha

Why does this dasha jump instead of walking sign by sign?

Mandooka means frog. A frog gathers still, then leaps. The sequence jumps to the 4th house from the last dasha, so whole slices of the zodiac are skipped. That skip is the point: the tradition reads these periods as breaks, relocations and out-of-sequence turns rather than a slow walk.

How is this different from Chara Dasha and Narayana Dasha?

Chara Dasha walks the signs from the Lagna (odd-footed direction). Narayana Dasha walks them from the stronger of Lagna and the 7th. Mandooka leaps to the 4th each time, in three groups of four (same quadruplicity first). Same family of Jaimini rashi dashas, different gait. Use Mandooka when you are timing a jolt, not a grind.

Does a Mandooka period mean something sudden will definitely happen?

No. The leap is in the sequence of signs, not a promise that life will explode. A quiet chart can still have a quiet Mandooka year. Treat it as one timing layer: when Mandooka, Vimshottari and a transit agree on a break, the case for a real shift is stronger. Keep decisions with a counsellor, a doctor or a qualified astrologer when the topic is sensitive.

Why can the frog start from the 7th instead of Lagna?

If Lagna is an even sign, this method starts from the 7th and leaps backward. If Lagna is odd, it starts from Lagna and leaps forward. Odd and even here are the ordinary 1-based signs (Mesha odd), not the odd-footed grouping used in Chara Dasha. Mixing those two rules reverses the whole timeline.

Is this only for people with a fixed Lagna?

Some Parashara lists treat Manduka as a conditional dasha for a fixed Lagna. This page uses the Jaimini leaping-frog method for every chart, so you can still see the sequence. If your Lagna is not fixed, read the result as a second opinion beside Vimshottari, not as the only clock.

How much does birth time accuracy matter here?

A great deal, because odd versus even Lagna decides both the seed and the leap direction. A Lagna on the wrong side of a sign boundary flips the frog from forward-at-Lagna to backward-from-the-7th. The Moon-star timeline most people start with is Vimshottari Mahadasha.

About Mandooka Dasha Calculator

Mandooka Dasha (also Manduka) is the Jaimini leaping-frog rashi dasha, used for sudden life shifts - a break, a relocation, a title that arrives overnight. The twelve signs do not walk in zodiacal order. Each period leaps to the 4th house from the last. Odd Lagna starts at Lagna and leaps forward; even Lagna starts at the 7th and leaps in reverse. The first four dashas cover the seed's type (movable, fixed or dual); the next four start from the neighbouring sign; the last four finish the remaining type.

Each sign's years are counted from the sign to its lord (1 to 12), with +1 for exaltation and -1 for debilitation. Vrishchika and Kumbha use the stronger co-lord. Because the seed is Lagna or the 7th, birth time matters: the ascendant changes about every two hours. Pick the city from the dropdown so coordinates and timezone are correct.

This is not sequential Chara Dasha and not Lagna-or-7th-strength Narayana Dasha. Cross-check timing with Janma Mahadasha and Yogini Dasha. For the natal chart use Kundli Maker.
