What is Mahadasha Phala?
In Vedic astrology, life unfolds through Vimshottari Dasha — a 120-year cycle of nine planetary periods (Mahadashas) whose order and length are fixed by the Moon's nakshatra at birth. Each Mahadasha hands the "rulership" of a span of life to one planet: Ketu 7, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19 and Mercury 17 years.
Mahadasha Phala means the results, or fruits, of each of these periods. The same planet gives very different results in different charts — so this calculator reads each Mahadasha lord by its house, sign, dignity (exalted, own, debilitated, combust) and the houses it rules for your ascendant, then summarises whether the period leans favourable, mixed or challenging and which areas of life it activates.
The currently running Mahadasha (and its Antardasha sub-period) is highlighted at the top, with the full timeline and your approximate age during each period below. Treat it as an educational overview — the Antardasha, transits (gochar) and the whole chart shape the actual experience. Enter your exact birth time and pick the city from the dropdown for an accurate reading.
